Welcome to the Hmong Language Program at the Department of Asian
Languages and Literatures, College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota.
This Hmong Language Program is one of the very few Hmong language programs
around the world that offer Hmong language courses as well as other
Hmong related education at the college/university level. We provide many levels
of Hmong language classes to meet the needs of our learners. Our classes
include Beginning Hmong if you have very little or no exposure to the Hmong
language, Intermediate Hmong so that you can continue to develop your
Hmong language skill, and advance Hmong so that you can master your
Hmong language fluency. In addition, we also offer Accelerated Hmong classes
if you have had a decent experience and exposure to the Hmong language and
want to learn it in a fast pace.

Because of the University’s location, we are right in the prime central of the
Hmong community in the Twin Cities and have great relationship with the
community. Our staffs also have connections with the mother countries such as
Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, and China and are currently working to establish study
abroad opportunities.
